BEFORE WE GET STARTED…
All artwork submitted for reproduction must be original work or include written authorization from the holder(s) of reproduction rights. If you have questions regarding the possibility of copyright infringement it is strongly recommended that you research all available resources to insure compliance. The CCC is a not-for-profit organization created at the suggestion of Congress to help organizations comply with U.S. copyright law. To learn more, visit www.copyright.com
ART REQUIREMENT #1
For the best stamp quality, please submit your images as black-and-white, camera-ready artwork at 300 DPI or higher resolution. Providing a vector-based file ensures the cleanest and most precise stamp results.
ART REQUIREMENT #2
Avoid solid areas larger than ½ inch, as they can cause incomplete stamps due to trapped air under the foil. To resolve this, consider converting solid black areas into stroked outlines or adding texture. If you need assistance, our art department is here to help.
ART REQUIREMENT #3
Ensure text size is 12 points or larger to maintain clarity and readability. To prevent letters from merging, choose a font with adequate spacing between characters.
ART REQUIREMENT #4
BRIDGING
Keep the center of your design clear or with minimal line work. The sprue, located at the center of the disc's underside, can cause dropouts due to unevenness on the flight plate. We cannot guarantee 100% perfection if your design includes black areas crossing the center.
ART REQUIREMENT #5
AVOID THE CENTER
Leave the center of the design blank or with very little line work. The sprue, located on the underside, center of a disc can cause drops outs due to an unevenness on the flight plate. We can not guarantee 100 perfection if your art has black crossing the center of the design.
Understanding Vector vs. Raster Art
Vector art is created using specialized software like Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw. These programs use mathematical equations and geometric primitives (points, lines, and shapes) to produce clean, print-ready designs that can be scaled infinitely without any loss of quality or readability. This makes vector art ideal for sharp and detailed printing, especially for logos and other designs requiring precision.
In contrast, raster graphics are made up of pixels and are created in programs like Adobe Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. While suitable for certain applications, such as photographs or one-color pen and ink drawings, raster graphics have fixed resolutions and can become blurry, jagged, or pixelated when scaled.
To illustrate, here's an example comparing raster and vector art: Raster images appear fuzzy and uneven when enlarged, while vector images remain smooth and clean.
Raster Verses Vector
For most printing applications, especially custom stamping, vector art is preferred to ensure high-quality results. Raster files may work in limited cases, but vector files guarantee the sharpness and clarity needed for professional printing.
Improved
Is my art vectorized?
One way to determine if your art is in vector format is by checking the file type. Vector art is typically created using software like Adobe Illustrator and saved with specific file extensions, such as .ai, .pdf, .eps, or .svg.
However, it's important to note that simply saving a file in one of these formats does not guarantee it is true vector art. Raster files can be opened in Adobe Illustrator and re-saved with vector file extensions, but this does not convert them into vector art. Without recreating the art using vector editing tools, the file remains a raster image.
How can you confirm your file is truly vectorized?
If you don't see these nodes and instead see a flat or pixelated image, your art is likely a raster file and may need to be recreated as a vector to achieve optimal printing results.
What if i can't get a vector file?
No need to worry! If your image is high quality, our art department can easily convert your JPG or PNG into a stampable design. If your image is lower quality and requires additional attention, we can often create a workable design for you for an additional $50 design fee. We're here to help bring your vision to life!
