Gateway Disc Sports is excited to announce that our newest mold, the Proto 99a, has officially been approved by the PDGA and will make its first public appearance this month through a special collaboration with Foundation Disc Golf. The new disc will be featured exclusively in Foundation’s November Member Box, giving subscribers the very first chance to throw and name this prototype before its public release in early 2026.

A Collaboration Built on Shared Standards

When Foundation approached Gateway earlier this year about developing a new mold, the goal was simple: create something that captured Foundation’s signature feel and flight while showcasing Gateway’s precision molding and plastic innovation.

Over the following months, both teams worked closely to test and refine multiple samples—adjusting flexibility, color, metal-flake blend, and overall flight profile—until the final version stood out as something entirely new.

“It’s always rewarding to collaborate with another company that cares as much about disc quality as we do,” said Dave McCormack, founder of Gateway Disc Sports. “The Proto 99a represents the best of what’s possible when we combine creativity, feedback, and a shared love of the sport.”

PDGA Approval and What It Means

On November 3, 2025, the Proto 99a officially passed all PDGA technical standards and is now approved for use in sanctioned events.

Join the Naming Contest

Foundation is inviting players to help name the new disc through a community naming contest launching as their Member Boxes ship out. The winning name will appear on the production run planned for January 2026.

What Comes Next

Gateway will begin offering the new mold to retailers and individual players once Foundation’s exclusive launch period wraps up early next year. In the meantime, we’re proud to see this collaboration already generating excitement across the disc golf community.
