This over-molded disc is not just a prototype; it’s a result of years of meticulous research and development, a product of trial, error, and relentless refinement. Through the careful manipulation of weight distribution between the rim and flight plate, enabled by dual-material technology, we’ve achieved a new level of control and flight precision.
Our journey began in 2006, when we partnered with Steve Pearson and Quest Technology, releasing the Odyssey Overmolded series as Gateway Quest—a breakthrough that spanned from putters to drivers.
By naming this new control driver “Odyssey,” we honor the legacy of innovation Steve and I embarked on together, paving the way for future advancements.
This prototype represents more than just a step forward—it’s part of the continuous evolution of disc design. It’s a look behind the curtain, showing players how a concept becomes reality. This disc is not the final product; it’s an integral part of a greater story unfolding.

Our latest creation at the factory has led to the ultimate distance control driver: the Gateway Javelin! Taking inspiration from the Spirit, the Javelin is deeper in the rim with a flatter top and slightly larger wing to be the most aggressive driver we offer. Truly powerful arms will witness its long and fast flight while most of us get an incredibly trustful utility driver, great for headwinds, flicks and anything else you need it to do.
